The entertainment industry and especially that involving sports museums is extremely important and developed both in Europe and the US. Outstanding examples are also seen in South America. Though there are a few successful sites, sports museums in Brazil are still far from having the level of those seen around the world.
Museu do Flamengo is positioned as a unique experience in Brazil, on a surface of 2000 sq. meters, at the historic club headquarters. It is ready to be a new touristic stop in Rio de Janeiro, aiming at receiving 400,000 visitors per year. The visit also includes a bilingual guided tour around Gavea headquarters, beside Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and at the foot of Cristo Redentor. A 124-year history is there to celebrate it. Both culture and inside stories are at the disposal o everyone.
Getulio Vargas Foundation has issued a report on the economic impact of the project. It states that its economic return reaches R$ 37.- for each R$ 1.- invested. More than 3,600 direct and indirect employees are involved and around R$ 50,000,000 taxes per year. Challenges for Mude are big and we are motivated and prepared for the job.
It is our vision that this should be a stepping stone for every Brazilian sports club on a national coverage. Demand exists, so there is a new income alternative for clubs, in addition to a renewed way of showcasing Brazilian cultural and sporting heritage.
